Shibayama Box and Cover
Meiji Period
On a hardwood core, the box is inlaid on the exterior in mother-of-pearl with basketwork on the sides and two ivory panels on the cover on a flower-strewn ground; one fan shaped panel depicts a finch amidst flowers and the other, pentalobed, panel an uchiwa and branch of plum. Length 4 7/8 inches (12.4 cm).
