Tibetan Thanka of the Dharmapala Mahakala
18th Century
Color on cloth, 28 x 18 inches (71.1 x 45.7 cm) excluding mounts. The blue Protector, with fangs and wearing a diadem and necklace of skulls, is striding across corpses while clasping his consort in coitus. Standing in flames of glory he is accompanied by lamas and attendant deities.
