Sanggam Bottle Vase 13th Century

The paste is a pale brick color on the unglazed foot. The body is decorated with six panels divided by shallow grooves and the panels are alternating water scenes of birds in flight over rice and birds perched in willows, all below individual panels resembling spouting flames. Height 12 3/4 inches (32.4 cm).

Restored mouth. Body has probably been broken and restored. The repair would appear to be old as the techniques included the old practice of applying a coat to the entire piece and repainting it; in the interrim it has toned a celadon color and should be removed for a modern restoration.
