Lagerfeld for Fendi Broadtail and Velvet Gala Ensemble
Italian, 1986
Comprising a black velvet fitted sheath with gigot sleeves, fishtail train bordered with sparkling tufted velvet band, the neckline straight at top, with neck-to-waist back slit, slanted slit pockets at side fronts, and a luxuriant Russian broadtail wrap fashioned with one gigot sleeve and two floor length side panels, size 8, labeled: Fendi/Roma/Made In Italy.
Excellent condition, worn once.
The dress is a virtuoso piece designed by Karl Lagerfeld specifically as the grand finale to an auction that was part of a Gala Evening sponsored by The Washington Fashion Group in honor of Nina Hyde on November 14, 1986. Bill Blass was a guest auctioneer. Documentation of the evening included.
