Liberty Smocked Silk Dress
English, circa 1905
Of antique rose slubbed silk, with elaborate smocking at bodice yoke, outside of sleeves and at waistline creating gathers and fullness in pouched bodice front, sleeves and wide skirt, the smocking extending into center V below waist, the square neckline edged with embroidered band, back self covered buttons with loops, waist 24 inches, labeled in buckled petersham: Liberty & Co./London/Paris/To The King By Appointment, and in machine stitching the client's name Almy.
Very good condition, color transfer on petersham, alteration, probably lengthening, at hemline.
