Fortuny Stenciled Velvet Caftan
Italian, 1920s
Floor length and flowing, opened at front, of antique rose/peach silk velvet stenciled in gold with various Turkish and Persian inspired designs, including at front edges, floral vinery, at center back two vertical serpentine leaf vines and two large tulips at each shoulder, on sleeves spiked scrolls, above hem border at front stemmed flowers, and at back dense leaf vinery and hem border of horizontal Turkish inspired tulip and spiked wheel pattern, gold silk lining, round label: Mariano Fortuny/Venise.
Good condition, some marks on velvet, 3-inch mend at right armscye, discolorations to back of lining.
