Additional Notes & Condition Report
The frames are old, but probably not original to the paintings. They don't fit exactly.
Both paintings are glue relined; have frame rubbing; scattered craquelure; thinned from prior cleaning; scattered inpainting, the extent I cannot be certain of due to the dulling varnish, however there is scattered inpainting in both faces and dress.
Woman: lower right corner has paint flaking and craquelure over the writing.
Gentleman: visible stretcher marks.
Any condition statement is given as a courtesy to a client, is only an opinion and should not be treated as a statement of fact. Doyle New York shall have no responsibility for any error or omission. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging.
