CIVIL WAR SCENE: IN PURSUIT OF MISS FLINT WITH THE BURNING OF HARRISBURG IN THE DISTANCE

The work represents the Confederate Gerneral Ramsey's pursuit of Miss Flint, who had fled on horseback to warn the Union General Schofield of the advancing Confederate army. As the flames advance towards Harrisburg, Flint rides past the burning Chitterdon, with Ramsey's men in pursuit.
