The subject of a series of portraits of this sitter has not been established definitively, but according to Ms. Kallir is probably Heinrich Wagner, a fellow soldier and friend of Schiele.

Light toning and mat burn. Taped at top verso edge with two pieces of tape (one at each corner). Wear with minor losses along the top, bottom and upper left edge. Few losses at the upper left corner. Old one-inch repaired tear at bottom center. Old one and a half inch repaired tear at upper left corner. Old repair to few tiny tears at upper left center edge. Inscribed 2 on the reverse. Inscribed in pencil along the [verso] top, "Aufdruck Egon Schiele Bildnis (Zeichnung)."
