Chippendale Style Mahogany Secretary Bookcase
In the Newport manner
In two parts, the upper section with a scrolling pediment, above three block front doors with carved shells flanked by fluted quarter columns, the lower section with block and shell carved lid opening to reveal a shell carved prospect door flanked by four drawers, three pigeonholes and three valence drawers on either side, over three graduated block front drawers, raised on bracket feet. Height 8 feet 4 inches, width 42 1/2 inches, depth 24 inches.
