A letter dated 9 June 2007 from Blakelock scholar Norman A. Geske indicates that, "This painting is hardly more than a sketch, but it does display the intuitive handling of pigment that is intrinsic to the artist's style. Additionally, the presence of the artist's initials is indicative of the spontaneity that motivated the image as a whole." The letter accompanies the lot.
