Presumably the subject of this painting, Oronzo Vito Gasparo (1903 - 1969), was a New York City-based artist who participated in the W.P.A. Easel Project during the Depression. He had been a favorite pupil of Preston Dickinson at the School of Design and Visual Arts in New York. He appears to have been an active participant in the artistic circle in Greenwich Village, where Franz and Elizabeth Kline were also residents.
Estate of Theodore and Dede Edlich
