Chinese Glazed Figure of a Bactrian Camel
Tang Dynasty
Standing four-square with the head raised and the mouth open, the double humps laden with full satchels shaped as masks, the body with swirling details at the shoulder and haunches, hair detailing at the knees, hocks and under the neck, partially covered in straw glaze. Height 25 inches, width 22 inches.
Radioisotope Unit, University of Hong Kong, thermoluminescence sample number 63.89, January 25, 1990, is consistent with the dating of this lot.
