Of rectangular form, with a hinged cover and carry handles, the cover with an applied Imperial double headed eagle and the sides with a band of chased foliate motifs, on bracket feet. Height 2 1/4 inches, width 4 7/8 inches, depth 3 inches, approximately 7 ounces.

interior side of the hinged cover and also the underside of the box are marked with Russian hallmarks: oval cartouche with the numeral 84, portrait head facing right, and a rectangular box with the initials AP over the date 1893; each of the swivel handles is also marked with marks, which appear to be different ones; the box is very clean and pristine and appears to be new, i.e., not circa 1893; box appears to be in good condition
