Each of baluster form with a ruffle rim with merman handles, decorated with circular medallions depicting either a domestic interior scene or a bouquet, against a turquoise ground, on a stepped circular base. Height of taller 24 inches.

one with chip loss and a vertical hairline crack to the ruffled rim area, hairline is approximately 3 inches in length; this same vase has extensive losses to the tail portions of both merman figures, including the tail tips; the other vase has at least one small chip loss to the tail portion of one of the merman figures; this second vase also has a small shallow chip/flake loss located on the underside of the rim edge at the top of the vase; there are areas of gilding flake loss on each vase as well as areas of wear to the gilding; some originally gilt areas may have been enhanced with gold overpaint; some of the gilding is matter rather than bright; possible restoration to each base: the turquoise coloration has the appearance of having been sprayed on; it is also possible the bases are replaced; finally, it is unusual in the way the base is affixed to the bottom of the body: the egg-shaped body is truncated towards the lower half in an unusual juncture
