North Italian Renaissance Style Carved Walnut Desk
Late 19th/early 20th century
The upper section with a recessed rectangular back fitted with short stacked drawers, pair of cupboard doors and various open compartments, surmounted by a pair of reclining female angels centering a heraldic shield, the lower section with three frieze drawers flanked by lion masks, above a central kneehole flanked by pedestal supports, raised on squat toupie feet. Height 57 inches, width 60 1/2 inches, depth 25 1/2 inches.

Splitting to some panels and sections including: top center doors, right side of desk, and a long horizontal crack across the writing surface towards the back. Left facing lower cupboard door is very tight and does not currently close properly. General scuffing to patina. Caryatid figure on the front far right facing side has an extensive vertical split. Restoration to a previous break to the figural crest and also on dragon head.
