Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts in 1924, Burt Goldblatt began his artistic career as a freelance artist. In 1953 he moved to New York and began work at CBS. Though he designed and created promotions for the station's anchors, comedians and television shows, Goldblatt's interests shifted toward album-cover design. His photography and artwork captured the master musicians of his era in a uniquely expressive way. Working for both large and small labels, Mr. Goldblatt is best remembered as one of "the pioneers in establishing the cool-jazz style."
