Frame rubbing. Wax-lined; surface is extremely flat. Older areas of restoration visible in the background, particularly in upper 1/3 of the work as well as along right side. Also few older spots along the bottom edge, his pants and minute areas of his hair. Cannot detect any further, new restoration through varnish layer.
