Continental Carved Ivory and Ebonized Casket
Late 19th century
Of rectangular form, decorated with figural plaques, grotesque masks, fruit garlands and meandering vines, the corners with herm figures, the hinged cover surmounted with a rosebud finial, interior cedar lined. Height 10 1/2 inches, width 15 inches, depth 10 1/2 inches.

Additional Notes & Condition Report

Appears to be in generally good condition; Some minor losses to ivory elements, including twig branch end on the rose bud finial; toe tips to male figure seated on swing panel, etc.
Some glue residue around ivory side panels. Does not contain original locking key. Cedar lined interior and shelf may be later replacements. Some mildew residue along interior flat top edges of casket and underside of cover.
There are ivory plaques on all four sides.
