BONAPARTE, NAPOLEON Note signed (as Nap),
, dated at end "Paris le 4 avril 1813." Addressed in the first line to Monsieur le Comte de Sussy [Jean-Baptiste Collin, the first French Minister of Commerce and Industry]. Single sheet (watermark at lower right), 9 x 7 1/4 inches (23 x 18.4 cm), with six lines of text plus Napoleon's signature. Once folded in quarters, retaining creases; old mounting marks on rear.
Napoleon writes to the Comte de Sussy regarding a customs inspector, a M. Heurlaux, about whom he has heard good report. He asks the Comte to let him know of Heurlaux's terms of service, presumably with an eye to promotion.
