[PLATE BOOK] Viaggio pittorico nel regno delle due Sicile.
. Naples: Cucinello & Bianchi, n.d. [but [1830-33]. First and only edition. First volume in one part, second in two parts, for a total of three volumes, all published, half-calf of the period with marbled sides. 21 3/4 inches (55.5 cm); illustrated throughout with fine mounted lithographic plates on india paper. Volume I: lithographic title, portrait leaf of Francesco I, 128 pp., 1 f. plate list, with 60 plates. Volume II: title, 122 pp., 1 f. plate list, with 60 plates. Volume III: title, 118, 1 f. plate list, with 60 plates. The 180 plates are all hors texte. Bindings somewhat worn, and the last volume with the text-block detached from the binding, leaving the latter intact (in an eminently restorable manner). Foxing throughout, but with the image area of the great majority of plates largely unaffected.
Devoted to Naples and Sicily, this work is extremely rare, both institutionally and in commerce. The quality of the lithography, by Cucinello & Bianchi, is exceptionally fine.
