Brussels (and elsewhere); La Libre Belgique, January 1915-November 1918. 8 inches (20 cm); 171 loose newsheets, housed in an elaborate black leather-backed box with clasps, the newsheets within a chemise with ties. A complete run; according to an enclosed note, none of these are post-War reprints. Generally in remarkably good condition.
An important clandestine publication, produced in Belgium during the German occupation under conditions of exceptional difficulty. By 1918, most of the paper's distributors, some sixty-one in all, were brought to trial and imprisoned.
