Doyle New York's Important Estate Jewelry auction on December 8, 2009 saw international competitive bidding from hundreds of bidders in the salesroom, on the telephones, and on the Internet. The sale offered jewelry spanning the Antique, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Modern eras by some of the world's most prestigious makers, including Cartier, David Webb, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Tiffany & Co. Also featured were fine watches and objets de vertu, including elegant compacts and cufflinks. A special section of the sale showcased jewelry from the Estate of the Honorable Shirley Wohl Kram. The competition between private buyers and dealers resulted in strong prices throughout the sale and a strong total of $1,782,655 against a pre-sale estimate of $1,371,525-1,938,550 with 83% sold by lot and 82% by value.
