Frame rubbing. Heavy cracquelure with the beginnings of paint lifting and flaking. 3 x 1 1/2-inch area of inpaint in the fabric to the right of the sitter. Horizontal crease across the width of the painting at center. Tearing along the canvas overlap at lower right edge, extending approximately 9 1/2 inches up from the bottom edge. Dirty varnish layer. Would benefit from the attention of a conservator.
