Additional Notes & Condition Report

The paper support , which measures 18 5/8 x 27 1/2 inches, does not extend to the edges of the board to which it is laid. Scattered inpaint predominantly in area of sky and at upper left edge. Possible 1 inch repaired vertical tear at upper edge, approximately 10 inches from right corner. Small 1 inch L-shaped line of inpaint in mountains at center. Traces of frame rubbing. Tiny spot of gold, under 1/8 inch, likely from frame, at left edge. Fine fibers adhering to panel at exposed edges, but these do not affect the paint layer. Signature is faint; "r" in "Bierstadt" may be reinforced.
