Russian Neoclassical Style Silver and Silver Gilt Mounted Green Jade Desk Clock

In the form of a striding elephant supporting a flat circular clock case on its back, enclosing a white enameled dial with black Roman numerals, continuing to a truncated columnar base, decorated with the Imperial double headed eagle and classical motifs, the animal's eyes and clock case inset with colored stones. Height 7 3/4 inches.

Additional Notes & Condition Report

The case appears to be in good condition; there is no winding key; the underplate is stamped with an oval reserve containing a small triangle symbol, Kokoshnik mark (facing right) and the numeral 88; wear to gilt; there are no other apparent hallmarks to any of the mounts with the exception of a Kokoshnik mark in the gilt mound surrounding the dial; there is glue residue visible surrounding the mount around the dial and also glue residue beneath the feet of the elephants.
