The six text volumes are in contemporary calf-backed boards, marbled sides, the six plate volumes bound as three in full calf, all edges red. 7 5/8 x 4 5/8 (19 x 12 cm); plate volumes all with separate titles and prelims. where called for, engraved plates as follows: I, 22 plates; II, 93 plates; III, 73 plates, plus one bis plate, plate 69 out of order; IV, 51 plates (but with two different versions of plate 49, so actually 52); V, 85 plates; volume 6, 86-136. Many of the plates are folding. Bindings (especially the plate volumes) rather worn, a few plates loosening, several with repaired folds.
A complete set of this charming and important architectural model book, generally referred to as the Petit Blondel. The plates (most of which are folding) are engraved by Croisey, Marillier, Pelletier, Le Roy and others, after Blondel, Desprez, Eisen, Patte, etc. The book was completed after the artist's death by Patte, a pupil of Blondel.
