Rojanovsky, a Russian emigre artist, is highly regarded for his children's illustration. He received a Caldecott medal in 1956 for his illustrations for Frog Went A-Courtin' retold by John Langstaff (Harcourt). His 1931 illustrations for Daniel Boone (his first published work for children) remain memorable, and were a significant milestone in the development of the modern children's illustrated book. He was also known for his erotic art. His work for children is quite rare on the market, and this is a very attractive group indeed. Sold with a printed publisher's maquette for the cover artwork.
