. London: Methuen & Co., 1924-1926-1927-1928. All volumes first edition, first impression. Original publisher's pictorial cloth gilt (blue, green, red and salmon respectively), all but the first with pictorial endpapers, each volume in the original dust jacket, the four housed in a custom case with chemise. 7 3/8 x 4 3/4 inches (18.5 x 12.5 cm); various paginations, all volumes illustrated by E. H. Shepard. The dust jackets are all a little toned to the spine as usual, with some negligible chipping to the jacket spine head and heel, occasional minor soiling; the cloth of the bindings is bright. Internally these are fresh copies, though with some negligible foxing to the extreme fore-edge, not visible internally.
An attractive set of this classic. The text of When We Were Very Young is in the second state as usual, with page ix numbered. All jackets bear the 7/6 price on the spine. Winnie-the-Pooh has the requisite "117th thousand" designation for When We Were Very Young on the rear flap.
