Modern leather in period style, retaining endpapers with manuscript. 10 7/8 x 6 7/8 inches (28 x 17.5 cm); [10], 220, [12], according to ESTC the title page is A2, this copy without the initial blank (A1) as commonly encountered. Repair to lower corner of N5 with a few words provided in manuscript, repaired tear into L2, some staining, a few punctures or light edgewear, some notation within, binding rubbed.
A rare and important early narrative of Central America and Mexico by Gage, an Englishman born in Spain. Once he returned to England (after nearly twelve years in the region), Gage wrote this book to promote English interest in the region which previously had been largely unknown.
