Azurite and Azurite Sun Pair
Liufengshan Mine, Guichi District., Chizhou Pref., Anhui Province, China; and Malbunks Copper Mine, Areyonga, Alice Springs, Gardiner Range, Northern Territory, Australia
Comprising two attractive and vibrant specimens from different locations. The first being a very attractive and aesthetic three dimensional cabinet specimen from Liufengshan Mine. This excellent and rich specimen is a combination of deep azure blue, well defined crystals up to 0.7 cm, superb sweet rosettes and spheres of smaller very sparkly azurite blades. The radiant and fabulous color of this beauty is gemmy electric blue. The quality is outstanding. Approximately 6.4 by 4.2 by 3.2 cm.
The second from Malbunks Copper Mine, is an intriguing formation of azurite from this unique locality. Looks like a sun or medallion. Azurite was literally forced to grow between the layers of kaolinite in a radiating manner. Nodule with radial and rosette crystals has a royal blue color contrasting a white kaolinite siltstone matrix. Contacted on one edge, an otherwise attractive specimen. Approximately 7 by 6 by 1.5 cm.
