. Washington: Wendell & Van Benthuysen, 1847. First edition. One of 2000 copies of the Senate edition. Presentation binding of leather backed marbled boards (see note). 9 x 5 1/2 inches (23.5 x 14 cm); 1369 pp., 249 pp. appendix, with five folding charts and sixteen folding maps. Upper board nearly detached and other wear to binding, a few worn or defective leaves, ink signature to title.
A scarce work on the Mexican War with numerous large maps. This volume was presented from Hon. J.I. Slingerland (New York State Congressman during this session) to scientist Joel W. Andrews and is signed by the latter on the title page. Sabin 48113.
