Full olive green morocco by the Doves Bindery, signed on the rear turn-in "The Doves Bindery/18-CS-96", covers with a single line border with dots, the back panels tooled with a Tudor rose, rose leaves, gougework and dots, dated 1866 at the foot, all edges rough gilt, marbled endpapers. 7 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches (19 x 12 cm); viii, 440 pp. Light wear to joints, leather somewhat toned to brown as usual.
This is Marianne Tidcombe's binding 280. pattern 449, book 958. It is an elegant composition.
