. Rome: [s.n.], 1781. Period full brown calf, all edges red. 18 x 14 inches (46 x 5.5 cm); engraved frontispiece a portrait of Anacreon, [x], 60 engraved plates. Covers scuffed and restained, spine rubbed, short tear to head of spine. Within, occasional finger-soil or toning, in all a clean copy.
A remarkable piece of engraving, with an engraved facsimile of the Palatine manuscript containing these odes, and with the Latin prose translation of Joshua Barnes, here edited by Giuseppe Spalletti. The engravers include Pietro Leone Bombelli, Camillo Tinti and; Stefano, Piale. The work was dedicated to Gabriel Antonio de Bourbon, infante of Spain (1752-1788), son of Carlos III.
