Full deep red French morocco of the period, spine gilt in compartments, all edges gilt over marble. 15 1/2 x 10 inches (39.5 x 25 cm); engraved title, [4] ff., 212, [2], 207, [1], [4], 140 pp., printed in red and black throughout, with extremely beautiful engraved initials, engravings of the ritual of the mass, musical notation etc. Crack at head of rear joint, but binding generally sound and attractive, some toning to text.
A magnificently printed work, distributed by Le Bé, Cramoisy and other leading publishers of the period. It is a very striking volume from all aspects of typography and illustration, and appears rare, with only one copy at auction, sold in 1992 for £250. We do not find it listed on COPAC or WorldCat.
