. Paris: A. Calavas, n.d [but 1929]. Original portfolio lettered in silver. 15 x 11 1/4 inches (38 x 28.5 cm); [4 pp.]., 20 pochoir-colored plates after Alexey Brodovitch, Henry Valensi, Okolow, Marianne Clouzot, Serge Gladky, Yvonne Bouchaud, Tchimoukow, Alexandra Bitchkova, Jaques Camus and Boris Lacroix. Portfolio rebacked, paper toned, one plate with a marginal tear.
A very scarce and interesting pochoir album with ornament by Russian and French avant-garde artists. Of especial interest are the two plates by Alexey Brodovitch, already a distinguished commercial designer in Paris, and later to become art director of the fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar from 1934 to 1958. A plate from an unrelated portfolio is laid-in.
