Placenticeras Meeki Gem Ammonite
Bear Paw Formation, Alberta, Canada, Upper Cretaceous
A spectacular ammolited ammonite which are the most sought after by all fossil collectors, the incrdible array of red, greens and yellows comes from the mineralization of iron, copper and silica precipitated from bentonite sediments of volcanic ash. These fascinating creatures lived in a small area of the ocean covering North America, approximately 100 million years ago. due to intense compression, many speciments found are relatively flat, this example has a nice three-dimensional quality showing brilliant colors. A healthy specimen measuring 10 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
