Pair of Federal Mahogany Side Chairs
Attributed to John Carlisle, Providence, Rhode Island, circa 1790

Each serpentine molded crest above shaped and molded stiles, and a pierced splat centering a kylix urn suspending a foliate swag flanked by oval rosettes, the pierced and waisted lower section over a fan carved base and molded shoe, and an overupholstered serpentine fronted seat, raised on molded square tapering legs joined by H-stretchers.
