Russian Silver-Gilt and Cloisonné Enamel Casket
Ovchinnikov, Moscow, 1870s
In the 17th century style, of larets form with hinged sloped cover and shaped clasp, with original lock and key, the rectangular base on bracket feet, enameled throughout with varicolored scrolling foliage, flowerheads and wirework scrolls on a gilt ground. Height 7 1/2 inches (19 cm), width 7 3/4 inches (19.7 cm), depth 5 1/2 inches (14 cm).
