George III Mahogany Settee in the manner of John Linnell
Circa 1775
The padded serpentine beaded backrest and sides with long leaf-carved arm rests carved with ball-form handholds and centering a bowfronted loose-cushioned seat, raised on tapering square legs headed by paterae and ending in casters. Height 38 1/2 inches ( 97.7 cm), width 6 feet (182 cm), height of seat 18 inches (45.7 cm), width 69 inches (1.75 m), depth 23 inches (58.4 cm).

With previous restorations throughout, old marks and scratches, top of seat rails with strengthening composition where there were upholstered upholstery nail holes, underframing with later corner block; back middle legs spliced sections of back rail replaced; wood worm damage to rails
