Marcel Breuer's Long Chair was an early example of how new materials and technologies would soon reshape classic furniture shapes creating the home of the future. The simple and elegant silhouette of the Long Chair would be echoed by many of the great designers of the post-war world including Charles and Ray Eames, Alvar Aalto and Eero Saarinen. This chair originally cost £6 and was too costly to be a commercial success at the time but has since become an icon of twentieth century design.
