Chinese Cinnabar Lacquer Circular Box and Cover
Jiaqing Period
The flattened domed cover carved in relief with a large central panel depicting scholars and assistants in various pursuits on a rocky river peninsula, bordered by leaf lappets and key-pattern bands and ogeeshaped panels of similar design on a stylized floral ground, the interior and base lacquered in black. Diameter 14 3/4 inches.
