Three volumes, original blue pebble-grain cloth, covers blocked in blind, spines lettered in black. 8 3/8 x 5 1/2 inches (21.5 x 145 cm); [iv], 364 pp.; 368 pp.; 312 pp.; text in Yiddish, portrait frontispiece of the author in first volume, diagrams in text. Spines a little toned, light wear, small loss to spine of volume II, front hinge of volume I almost separated at the front endpaper, first three leaves of the first volume a little stained at the foot. Ownership stamp of J. Hoffman of Calgary on the first two leaves of each volume.
This unusual edition of Darwin's works is the only one to appear in Yiddish. It includes an essay by Arthur S. Thomson on Darwinism, at the beginning of volume 1. It is lacking from many major institutional collections. Freeman 1138, mis-stating the publisher as Meisel.
