Russian Bronze Group of a Winter Ride in a Troika
Cast by Woerffel after the model by Vasilii Grachev, late 19th century
On a naturalistic oval base, cast as a coachman driving a troika, with two passengers in his sled, on a later pink marble base. Length of bronze group 10 1/2 inches (26.7 cm).
A comparable model on a malachite base was sold Christie's, New York, April 16, 2012, lot 172.
