Russian Porcelain Two-Handled Vase
Circa 1830
Of amphora form, on a spreading socle and square foot, the sides with two handles in the form of winged females, the waisted flared neck with an everted rim and decorated with a band of gilt ciselé acanthus leaves, the front painted with a seated man and woman in an interior in the manner of Adriaen van Ostade, the reverse centering a lyre above a two cornucopiae and sphinxes in puce, pale green and white on a dark green ground, apparently unmarked. Height 19 1/8 inches (48.6 cm).
