Fabergé Silver Trophy Cup
Workmaster Stefan Wäkeva (Väkevä), St. Petersburg, circa 1897
Tapering cylindrical on a circular foot, with angular handle, the body engraved with a Russian presentation inscription: Imperial flat race / 4th prize / Filly "Girl" / Lieutenant Dehn / 3 August 1897 Krasnoye Selo, above a lobed and reeded lower section. Height 4 1/4 inches (10.8 cm), approximately 8.6 ounces (267 grams).

Krasnoye Selo, to the south-southeast of the Russian Imperial capital St. Petersburg, was the location of the annual military maneuvers, which were presided over by the emperor, as well as regular officers' horse races. The recipient of the present lot, identified as Lieutenant Dehn, was possibly Alexander Alexandrovich von Dehn (1867-1930).
