George I Red-Japanned and Parcel-Gilt Bureau Bookcase
In two parts, the upper section with mirrored doors opening to sliding shelves and candle slides, the lower section with slant front opening to a leather-lined writing surface, pigeonholes, drawers and a sliding panel and well, one drawer bearing a British Antique Dealers' Association label, all over two short and two long drawers, on bracket feet. Height 7 feet (2.13 m), width 42 1/2 inches (1.08 m), depth 22 3/4 inches (57.8 cm).

With previous restorations and now with later varnish to surfaces, top section with losses to moldings of cornice, surrounding mirror plates and fall front, losses and restorations to japanned and gilded decoration throughout, mirror plates possibly original, prospect door to interior in need of reattachment to hinges, age cracks across fall front and along lines of construction, bearers for fall lacking knobs, handles and feet later, age cracks to sides,
