Louis XVI Ormolu-Mounted Mahogany Dressing Table
The hinged three-part rectangular string-inlaid top with central mirror flanked by two flaps opening to wells, the left one removable, above a panelled frieze drawer within stiff-leaf mounts over a shaped kneehole flanked by a dummy drawer and a drawer fitted for pens and bottles, with similarly mounted panelled sides and back, raised on tapering square legs with incurved corners headed by collars and ending in sabots, bearing two stamps J. H. RIESENER, the undersides of the drawer and case with inscription 52002. Height 30 inches (76.5 cm) width 34 1/2 iinches (87.5 cm), depth 20 inches (51 cm).
