Biedermeier Birchwood, Part-Ebonized and Parcel-Gilt Secretaire Cabinet
Circa 1830
In two parts, the upper section with a pair of ogee-arched paneled doors opening to shelves, flanked by classical-headed terms, the waisted lower section wtih a frieze drawer above a fall front flanked by female terms and opening to an interior fitted with three drawers above a mirrored prospect niche over steps and sliding forth to reveal secret drawers and wells, flanked by document slots, similarly sliding forth to secret recesses, above drawers, all over three drawers and raised on molded bracet feet. Height 7 feet 3 inches (221 cm), width 41 1/2 inches (105.4 cm), depth 21 inches (53.4 cm).
