George II Inlaid- and Figured- Walnut Double-Dome Bureau Cabinet
Circa 1725
In two parts, the upper section with molded cornice surmounted by three giltwood finials above a pair of arched doors with inset bevelled mirror plates and opening to shelves, document slots, valenced pigeonholes and drawers, all over candle slides, the lower section with featherbanded fall front opening to a suede-lined writing surface and an interior fitted with pigeonholes, drawers and a sliding panel opening to a well, above two short over two long drawers, raised on bracket feet; the lower section bearing an Apter-Fredericks label. Height 92 1/4 inches (234.3 cm), width 41 3/4 inches (106.1 cm), depth 23 1/2 inches (59.7 cm).
